Mr. Customer has an 07 Edge, needs a wheel, does not have a VIN handy. Punch in 1007, only 1 choice comes up, and that is 17". Mr. C. looks at picture, " yes, that's it". problem is, no it's not. He has 18" wheels, which we found out when we tried to mount it.

So, customer has no VIN, you take the customer's word based on the catalog picture.....it lists 17" and he has 18", and this is Microcat's fault?
So at the point of sale, you are not even 100% sure he has an 07, and you have no idea what kind of wheel he has, but you took a guess. I'm sorry man, but this is all on you. I personally don't order ANYTHING without verifying the part is correct. Especially something as expensive as a wheel. Either bring me the VIN, or the vehicle so I can get info off the part itself. Microcat is not the be-all-end-all, and there are some mistakes in the information they have...given to them by Ford. So in many cases you have to be smarter than the catalog. Just like your driveshaft issue, with the information given in the VIN it took me 5 seconds to look up the correct driveshaft.
I understand that there may be a problem with the 07 Edge listing, but that is no excuse for making assumptions and ordering the wrong part then blaming the catalog for your incorrect assumption. You just seem to want to blame Microcat for every wrong part you order. Sure, there have been times when Microcat has sent me in the wrong direction....but more often than not, experience and common sense can be used to avoid mistakes. As I often say, you have to be smarter than the catalog. I don't mean to beat you up or anything, it just seems that every time you run into a problem you blame Microcat, when many times you have the information you need to get the right part.

Actually, I kind of missed Bigmac's(?) posts about all the problems he encountered and pointed out. I was just being colorful. Kidding aside, no matter who supplied all this info, we pay alot to use it and if I listed every questionable thing I found I would be here all day, that is the point. If you need to disassemble a car to get part numbers so you can be "sure", what's the point of the catalog? At some point you need to go by the info at hand, VIN or not. Things like a V10 Ranger, Super Duty F150's, no filtering even with a VIN, some 2010 vehicles don't come up by VIN, and not just the one that was built this month. Wrong oil filters. Little things maybe, but constantly second guessing the catalog gets old. And on the Ford supplies the info to all of the catalogs? Then why do some of the other systems have correct info? I have called other dealers to verify things and they do not always have the same answer, or as many choices. Looked up a plug for an 01 Ranger 4.0 today. MCat says SP440. I don't have any, never did. No dealers close by have any, the parts store didn't have any, so I asked what they did have for it, they tell me their book says SP498. I dig out my Motorcraft book and gee, it says SP498. Should I have to jump hoops for spark plugs, tell Joe Customer to bring me in an old one? VBOM everything? So , yeah, guy says he has an 07 Edge and the catalog only has 1 listing. And to shovel it on Ford for every error, I don't buy.

There are many things left out of catalog into,, 07 Expitidion when you look up a 14028 a which is a power Lock Switch.. I know that, Ford know's that.. But Micro cat calls is a switch, doesn't say for what?? My point is how is a younger inexpearenced parts person supose to Know??
Catalog info for 09 & 2010 F150 Headlamps asy, ( 13008) Microcat doesn't tell which is RH or LH.. Ford has been playing games with Part numbers & we cannot afford to Assume which is LH or RH. We want in Writing.......
